FINITE

In 1826, the Swedish scientist Svante Arrhenius had a theory; burning fossil fuels would increase the temperature of our planet. This theory was swiftly ignored and swept under the rug. Yet warnings of global warming persistently surfaced decades in and out. This was until the Non-Governmental Organisations and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change arose in the 1980’s.

Almost 200 years have passed since Arrhenius’ prediction. The planet continues to warm as populations exponentially rise and economies are sating earth’s resources to cater to greed. We currently produce too much methane through cows, over-produce carbon dioxide and destroy the Rain Forest - a site that not only extracts carbon dioxide from the air but controls the weather patterns on our planet.

FINITE examines the biosphere of the petri-dish to create a micro-biome engaged in an intimate representation of the Amazon and its subjection to rampant deforestation.
